Livonia, MI—On Thursday, March 8, over 100 Masco employees gathered at The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan, to recognize International Women’s Day.

In keeping with the internationally recognized theme, “Press for Progress,” the event was both a celebration of women’s achievements in the corporate workplace and a time to bring attention to the barriers women still face daily.

Five women in leadership at three of Masco’s businesses in metro-Detroit and the surrounding areas—Masco Headquarters, Masco Cabinetry and Brasscraft Manufacturing Company—were chosen as panelists to share experiences in the workplace that have been impacted by their gender. Matters of mentorship, leadership, work-life balance, and unconscious bias were all discussed through the panelists’ personal anecdotes.

The Women’s Leadership and Development Group, which organized the event, was founded in 2016 to encourage women to develop their career-building skills and leadership potential by creating networking opportunities for female employees and their male allies. The group is an actionable step forward in the company’s commitment to promote diversity and inclusion across their enterprise of leading brands.
