Watkins Manufacturing has given employees an opportunity to do great work in the community and at the same time enhance their food choices. On Friday, June 20, Watkins held the first of its “Friday Farm Stand” events, in support of Solutions for Change, a Vista, California-based nonprofit dedicated to finding a permanent solution to the problem of family homelessness in North San Diego County.

The farm stands will take place at the Watkins cafeteria every Friday this summer while school is out. They feature organic, locally-grown herbs and leafy greens from the “Solutions Farm,” on which parents of homeless children work and use the food they grow not only to feed their families and to share with others in need, but also to sell to local schools and restaurants.
