Masco Million Differences: 2020 in Review
2020 saw our third year of the Masco Million Differences program, which aims to provide financial support to high-impact Diversity, Equity & Inclusion organizations in Masco’s and our business units’ local communities and to create lasting partnerships with education, workforce development and professional diversity organizations.
Throughout our 13 participating business units in the US and Canada, we had over 60 Masco Million Differences nonprofit partners in 2020.
Here’s a glimpse at a few of the amazing organizations we supported in 2020:
- During the COVID-19 pandemic, the divide in quality education became more apparent than ever. In response, Kichler Lighting made a grant to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio to allow them to purchase more computers for their after-school programs. When kids go to a Club after school, they can continue learning remotely without the risks of face-to-face tutoring.
- Exceptional Academy, a joint initiative by Cisco and Michigan nonprofit Living and Learning Enrichment Center, seeks to provide IT certification with a focus in cybersecurity training to adults with disabilities. Despite the pandemic, the first cohort graduated this past summer with six out of ten students gaining their CCNA certifications and three gaining instructor certifications, and all having gained new experience in interview skills and workplace culture. Masco HQ was proud to be the first corporate sponsor of the program’s pilot year and, if safety allows it, is looking forward to hosting their second cohort next year to tour Masco and learn from our own IT department.
- Delta Faucet Company continued its partnership with Indiana Black Expo, which has encouraged and empowered individuals through education, events, and hands-on initiatives for fifty years. This year, Delta Faucet Company sponsored IBE’s Minority Small Business Series consisting of free webinars on topics like starting a business and succeeding in the COVID-19 era, as well as a panel called “Moving Beyond Diversity to Racial Equity in the Workplace” featuring Delta Faucet Company’s VP of Retail, Pam Hoppel.
We’re excited see what lies ahead in our fourth year of Masco Million Differences!
