Behr Donates to Racial and Income Equality Nonprofit

Behr Paint Company recently made a donation to the SoLa I Can Foundation, the nonprofit arm of a family of social impact real estate funds focused on high-quality affordable housing, catalyzing economic development, and providing access to educational opportunities in low-income communities. The Foundation seeks to address racial and income inequality in the South Central, Watts and Compton neighborhoods of Los Angeles primarily through education, training and scholarship programs.

Behr’s donation will help the nonprofit serve Black and Latinx communities by providing career development, technology, education, financial literacy, and college readiness and scholarships, as well as help SoLa achieve its top 2021 priorities around bridging the digital divide and increasing opportunities for underrepresented youth to participate in 21st century jobs. In its inaugural summer, SoLa’s new Tech and Entrepreneurship Center is already training 100 students from Black and brown communities in South LA about virtual reality, stop motion animation, content/website creation, video game design and much more.

Behr has also been SoLa’s primary paint supplier since 2018, and support for SoLa starts at the top of the company; both sales leaders and corporate leaders from the Behr team have visited SoLa’s job sites, as well as the Beehive, the nation’s first campus for Opportunity Zone (OZ) businesses.
