Delta Faucet Helps Create Big Futures

This year, our Delta Faucet Company is continuing their support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana, which serves more than 1,200 youth annually ages 8 – 18 to help them achieve their full potential. Delta Faucet specifically sponsors two programs under BBBSCI. The Little Impacts program, for one, is a year-long series of outcome-oriented programming created with the intent of promoting skill development and preparing Littles to be successful as they progress into high school. The Big Futures program, meanwhile, focuses on offering career and college readiness activities for BBBSCI’s high school aged Littles; this program helps Littles explore different career paths, attend a college fair and networking event, tour and shadow in different workplaces, hone their professional skills, and access scholarship opportunities.

In addition to being the official sponsor of these programs, Delta Faucet is proud to have four employees from their headquarters in Indianapolis serving as “Bigs”. LaTanya McCann, one of the Delta Faucet volunteers, says, “Being a ‘Big’ is such a rewarding experience. I’ve been able to mentor my ‘little’ as well as learn a lot from her. It’s amazing how much energy she brings and the new experiences we have shared.”

In 2023, Behr Paint Company was proud to continue its support for the Orange County Asian Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA), which works to build a healthier and stronger community by enhancing the well-being of Asians and Pacific Islanders through inclusive partnerships in the areas of service, education, advocacy, organizing, and research. Students Learn about STEM Careers at Masco

In October, Masco hosted students from Detroit-based Central High School for a day to learn about some unique careers as part of our nonprofit partner Life Remodeled’s “Career Visioning Field Trips.” First touring our Flight Operations office, the students saw the airplane hangar and heard about the variety of job paths available in aviation. Then, at Masco Research & Development, they met with our scientists who explained how they test our products for safety and durability by using their expertise in chemistry, metallurgy, microbiology and more. Future Engineers Tour Mercury Plastics

This summer, Mercury Plastics continued its support for University of Akron programs aimed at increasing minority enrollment in their engineering school. In June, the university’s Women in Engineering Program (WIEP) hosted a week-long Summer Experience in Engineering Camp for 23 students entering grades 9-12. From tours to local engineering firms to hands-on projects, along with social activities, the camp offered valuable experiences for high school students interested in learning more about aerospace systems, biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, corrosion, electrical and mechanical engineering.
