For the past 3 years, Masco’s Flight Operations team has supported the Golightly Career & Technical Center’s Flight Training and Aviation Technology course for students in the Detroit Public Schools Community District. The course focuses on careers piloting either drones or airplanes, giving first-year students hours of hands-on training to be able to earn a FAA Remote Pilot Certificate, which allows them to fly drones for profit. In late June, members of the Masco Finance and IT teams volunteered with nonprofit Detroit Impact on the first day of their Young Investor Summer Camp, part of the Money Matters for Youth program. The program’s mission is to teach children of all ages the fundamentals of economics and financial responsibility, with all camp activities designed to promote financial literacy and awareness. The Masco volunteers assisted with the camp’s “Adulting” activity, also known as the Reality Store.
