LGBTQ+ Youth Program Receives Donation from Masco

The B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center, a part of the Canton Community Foundation, was the recent recipient of a $5,000 donation from Masco for its second year of the Transpire Nights program.

Transpire Nights provide monthly support, education, and advocacy for area LBGTQ+ and ally students, who can engage in discussions, plan activities, and build community with their peers. Developed in 2020 by The B.L.O.C.K. Youth & Teen Center in cooperation with PFLAG (Parents, Friends, Family) and Allies United with LGBTQ Individuals, Transpire Nights program focuses on a variety of topics by fostering conversations and dialogue that support inclusion and encourage respect for all. Funds donated by Masco will be used to provide certified therapists as discussion leaders for upcoming sessions.

“We are so grateful to receive this support for our Transpire program,” said Recreation Specialist Laura Mortier. “This contribution has the potential to have a major impact on numerous LBGTQ+ and ally students, and on behalf of all our staff I want to thank Masco for its generous support.”

Masco is happy to support this important youth program and the work The B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center does to create thriving, safe communities for all.
