Masco Celebrates Girls in Aviation Day

Masco Flight Operations sponsored the Willow Run Riveters (EMU) Chapter of Women In Aviation International to present Girls In Aviation Day 2019. On October 5, middle school and high school girls gathered at the Masco hangar to explore a variety of careers in aviation. Several keynote speakers discussed their backgrounds in different areas of aviation, including air traffic control, aircraft maintenance and aviation operations management. The girls had the opportunity to tour the airplanes and participate in other fun-filled activities aimed at fostering the girls’ interest in aviation. Thanks to everyone from Masco Flight Ops who took time to show these girls that the sky is truly the limit!

In late June, members of the Masco Finance and IT teams volunteered with nonprofit Detroit Impact on the first day of their Young Investor Summer Camp, part of the Money Matters for Youth program. The program’s mission is to teach children of all ages the fundamentals of economics and financial responsibility, with all camp activities designed to promote financial literacy and awareness. In 2023, Behr Paint Company was proud to continue its support for the Orange County Asian Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA), which works to build a healthier and stronger community by enhancing the well-being of Asians and Pacific Islanders through inclusive partnerships in the areas of service, education, advocacy, organizing, and research. In addition to Behr’s financial support for the nonprofit, this year several Behr team members gave their time through participation in various OCAPICA events. Students Learn about STEM Careers at Masco

In October, Masco hosted students from Detroit-based Central High School for a day to learn about some unique careers as part of our nonprofit partner Life Remodeled’s “Career Visioning Field Trips.” First touring our Flight Operations office, the students saw the airplane hangar and heard about the variety of job paths available in aviation. Then, at Masco Research & Development, they met with our scientists who explained how they test our products for safety and durability by using their expertise in chemistry, metallurgy, microbiology and more.
