Masco Partners with Local News to Collect Children’s Books

This year, Masco is partnering with the Detroit news station WDIV to broadcast a special series in Masco World Headquarters’ home region of Southeast Michigan. Through televised segments airing weekly on WDIV Detroit, the year-long series, called Go 4 It, is celebrating good news by shining a spotlight on the philanthropic impact made by nonprofit organizations, corporations, and individuals.

In March, to celebrate Reading Month, WDIV broadcast live as Masco HQ hosted a drive-through book collection to benefit Detroit Public Schools. Over the span of 12 hours, employees and community members donated 9,500 books for K-8 students, with volunteers sorting them by age group for placement in classrooms. WDIV has been delivering the books to classrooms across Detroit.

Thank you to all our employees and everyone from the community who came out to Masco to donate a book (or a box of books!) to support young readers.

In October, Masco hosted students from Detroit-based Central High School for a day to learn about some unique careers as part of our nonprofit partner Life Remodeled’s “Career Visioning Field Trips.” First touring our Flight Operations office, the students saw the airplane hangar and heard about the variety of job paths available in aviation. Then, at Masco Research & Development, they met with our scientists who explained how they test our products for safety and durability by using their expertise in chemistry, metallurgy, microbiology and more. Behr Paint Employees Learn About Backyard Wildlife

Masco is proud to support the National Wildlife Federation, the USA’s largest private, nonprofit conservation education and advocacy organization. Through hands-on habitat protection, restoration, and management; policy work; community outreach and more, the National Wildlife Federation works each day to build a better future for both people and wildlife. Masco HQ Steps Up to Battle Student Hunger

In October, Masco Headquarters and its employees supported Livonia Kids & Families, a small nonprofit that battles food insecurity among students and their families in Wayne and Oakland Counties to ensure students are coming to school ready and able to learn. Through stocked food pantries located in Livonia and Clarenceville public schools, Livonia Kids & Families provides food to more than 2,500 students and family members each month. Masco’s $25,000 donation will significantly contribute to the organization’s mission to alleviate food insecurity in our community.
