Masco Helps Bring “New Hope”

Masco is proud to sponsor the New Hope Center for Grief Support, a nonprofit based in Northville, MI that is dedicated to bringing hope, healing, and new beginnings to adults and children grieving the death of a loved one. Over the last two decades, New Hope has served thousands of grieving individuals and families throughout Southeast Michigan.

In July 2021, New Hope held their annual Kids Camp, a free two-day camp for children ages 5 – 14 who have lost a loved one. The camp provides a time to meet others who have experienced a loss and to learn positive coping skills from the animals at Maybury Farm. This year’s group of campers was their largest one yet, serving over 70 kids during a time when losses from COVID-19 and the mental health impacts of the resulting isolation compounded to create an intensely challenging year.

Representatives from Masco were pleased to be able to visit during camp and see firsthand the impact of New Hope’s carefully structured programming. Many of the kids come back each year to keep working through stages of grief as they grow, and some have even come back as volunteers. We are also grateful to have one of our Masco World Headquarters employees, whose children went through New Hope’s grief program, serve as a volunteer at Kids Camp with his daughter.
