Masco Volunteers at Youth Grief Camp
Masco is proud to sponsor the New Hope Center for Grief Support, a nonprofit based in Northville, MI that is dedicated to bringing hope, healing, and new beginnings to adults and children grieving the death of a loved one. Over the last two decades, New Hope has served thousands of grieving individuals and families throughout Southeast Michigan.
In addition to their year-round support groups, each summer, New Hope holds their annual Kids Camp, a free two-day camp for children ages 5 – 14 who have lost a loved one. The camp provides a time to meet others who have experienced a loss and to learn positive coping skills from the animals at Maybury Farm. Many of the kids come back each year to keep working through stages of grief as they grow, and some have even come back as volunteers.
This year’s group of campers was their largest one yet, with 120 kids from all over Michigan attending the 2022 Kids Camp in Northville to process difficult losses.
On top of Masco’s financial support to help make Kids Camp possible, a member of Masco’s Legal Department served as a 2022 camp counselor, and we were proud to have ten more members of our Legal Department step up as volunteers to serve lunch to the kids, ensuring the day could run smoothly for everyone involved.
