BrassCraft Returns to “Soup City”

Every year, the Detroit-based nonprofit Coalition On Temporary Shelter (COTS) holds their signature event, Soup City, to raise funds and awareness for the issues surrounding family homelessness. BrassCraft Manufacturing Company was pleased to return as a sponsor of the event for the first-ever Soup City: Virtual Houseparty Edition, which brought the annual event to people’s homes through livestreamed video and shipped “houseparty kits” to keep the tradition going safely during COVID-19.

BrassCraft has been a supporter of COTS for over 30 years, helping fund the nonprofit’s wraparound services such as emergency shelter for families; housing case management; child developmental activities and tutoring; parenting support; health care services; learning opportunities for adults including financial literacy, budgeting, GED and advanced education completion; and job training and employment services.

BrassCraft’s Program Manager, Rashelle Groulx, commented, “The COTS Soup City event is one of my favorite events of the year. When I heard COTS was hosting the event virtually for 2021, I was bummed that it couldn’t be held in person. But in true COTS form, they did not disappoint! Not only was the virtual event exciting to watch, but COTS prepared ‘attendees’ with party packs filled with treats to bring the event to our homes. I enjoyed some delicious soups while learning more about COTS members and their journeys and got to hear some fun jazz in the process. Kudos to keeping Soup City alive in 2021!”
