Housing Partner Spotlight: Ronald McDonald House

Masco’s commitment to providing safe and affordable homes for people facing hardships can take many forms, spanning support for long-term housing organizations like Habitat for Humanity, emergency grants to the American Red Cross to help communities rebuild after natural disasters, and funds for crisis housing centers across the country. One Housing partner that seeks to provide stability to families facing particularly difficult circumstances is Watkins Wellness’ partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, which provides affordable housing and care for the family members of children battling life-threatening illnesses.

Over the last four years, Watkins Wellness has donated nearly $120,000 to the organization’s core lodging program, which keeps families close to their hospitalized children by providing subsidized housing and meals, as well as access to laundry, exercise and play spaces, computers, and a community of care. These resources give some of the San Diego region’s most highly stressed families the practical, compassionate support they need to focus on helping their child heal, instead of struggling to manage their day-to-day needs away from home.

Through a combination of financial support and onsite volunteer outreach, Watkins Wellness has seen firsthand RMCDH’s impact on the community through programs like its meal service, which in the last decade has served well over 1 million free meals to families during very difficult times. Maggie Hammock, Senior Specialist of Engagement & Communications at Watkins Wellness, says, “Watkins Wellness believes it is essential to ‘Feel Good. Live Well.™’ and is honored to support RMCDH in their mission to help children and their families do the same.”
