Kichler Supports YWCA Ten-Year Anniversary Campaign

In 2021, Kichler Lighting celebrated the YWCA of Greater Cleveland’s ten-year anniversary of two of their core programs, Independence Place and Nurturing Independence & Aspirations (NIA), with a donation to their “Campaign of Independence.”

Focusing  primarily on youth who have aged out of foster care and have experienced homelessness, the supportive services at Independence Place and NIA have proven successful in providing the stability and support that young people in crisis need to build self-sufficiency and ultimately transition back into their community as thriving and engaged young adults. Independence Place’s 23-unit permanent supportive housing resolves the immediate crisis of youth homelessness, while NIA case management and supportive services build self-sufficiency and the skills that young adults need to achieve independence, prevent re-occurrence of homelessness, and enjoy the highest quality of life possible. YWCA’s work also reduces tenants’ risk of a return to homelessness, increases their access to resources and develops effective life skills.

Kichler’s gift of $10,000 will provide one tenant with individualized case management support, program services, education support, emergency needs, transportation needs, and more for one year.

Kichler has further supported YWCA through its non-housing programs, including the Best Places for Black Women to Work program, through which YWCA and partners identify and address the challenges facing black women professionals, and then provide resources and guidance for organizations to achieve diversity and equity, increase retention and create pathways for upward mobility and true inclusion for black women. Kichler also supported YWCA’s quarterly reFRESHed series, a personal growth series dedicated to empowering women from diverse backgrounds and across industries on their journeys towards self-discovery, professional fulfillment, and internal evolution connection with like-minded peers and mentors.
