Masco Attends “Topping Off” Ceremony for Fisher House Detroit

In February, Masco nonprofit partner Fisher House held a ceremony to celebrate the “topping off” of their new Detroit location and the 99th Fisher House in the U.S. With plans to open its doors to military families this fall, supporters gathered to witness a milestone in the construction timeline: the placing of the final beam in the structure.

Masco’s Director of Communications & Corporate Giving, Sue Sabo, who attended the ceremony, said, “It was exciting to see how far Fisher House Detroit has come in the past few years, from a shared dream to be able to host military families near the VA hospital in Detroit to now—a nearly complete Fisher House set to open this year.”

Masco was an early supporter of Fisher House Detroit after witnessing the great need filled by Michigan’s first Fisher House location in Ann Arbor, of which Masco was proud to be a four-star sponsor. The Detroit location will provide no-cost lodging for up to 16 families of veterans who are receiving medical care at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center.
