Masco Helps Habitat, One Repair at a Time

In celebration of Veterans Day last month, Habitat for Humanity Detroit teamed up with organizations like Masco to transform the houses of eight veteran homeowners within the Habitat community through critical home repair projects in a new event, the Veterans Repair Blitz. Falling under Habitat Detroit’s Critical Home Repair program, the Veterans Repair Blitz helped low-to-moderate income homeowners and military veterans with their most urgent repair issues. Masco was honored to support the effort as a “One Repair at a Time” sponsor.

One of the homes that received repairs belongs to Mr. Carter, a 76-year-old United States Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. Living on a fixed income and facing many physical challenges which have made it impossible for him to keep up on home repairs, Mr. Carter came to Habitat Detroit looking for some help to fix his roof and the structure of his front porch. Thanks to assistance from Habitat, he’ll be able to stay safely in the Detroit home that has been in his family for generations.
