Masco Helps Welcomes New Refugee Neighbors to Southeast MI

In 2023, Masco partnered with the nonprofit Samaritas and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Plymouth, Michigan, to turn a vacant colonial house on the St. John’s property into a home for resettling refugee families coming to the Great Lakes State. With capacity to fit up to eight people, the home will serve one family at a time; when the residing family is on their feet and ready to move into their own place, another refugee family in need will take over occupancy of the Plymouth house. Families in the home will also continue to receive support services from Samaritas, the Michigan affiliate of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, which has resettled thousands of people from dozens of countries.

Facing a cost of $120,000 in remodeling plus the need for decorations and furnishings, St. John’s found local organizations large and small to chip in what they could through cash, product, and volunteer time. In addition to financial support, Masco was proud to donate a range of our products, from Delta Faucet showerheads, faucets, and toilets to Kichler lighting and BEHR paint.

The home’s first residents moved in in late October. Masco HQ is excited to welcome them to our community and looks forward to the impact this home will have for years to come!
