Masco Participates in SAY Detroit Radiothon

In December 2021, Masco participated in the tenth annual SAY Detroit Radiothon. Over the last ten years, the radiothon event has raised over $10 million to support SAY (Super All Year) Detroit, a multifaceted nonprofit founded by acclaimed author Mitch Albom that improves the lives of Detroit’s neediest citizens through shelter, food, medical care, volunteer efforts and education.

Lasting 15 hours, the 2021 radiothon raised the highest ever one-day total for SAY Detroit, bringing in more than $1,650,000.

As a sponsor of SAY Detroit’s Working Homes / Working Families program, which uses volunteers to refurbish empty homes in Detroit and donate them to working families in need, Masco was represented in the radiothon by our President and CEO, Keith Allman. Keith and Mitch engaged in a conversation about Masco’s commitment to safe and equitable housing for everyone, the deep roots of our company’s philanthropic efforts, and how our relationship with SAY Detroit has allowed us to give back in multiple meaningful ways. In February, Masco nonprofit partner Fisher House held a ceremony to celebrate the “topping off” of their new Detroit location and the 99th Fisher House in the U.S. With plans to open its doors to military families this fall, supporters gathered to witness a milestone in the construction timeline: the placing of the final beam in the structure. Masco Helps Welcomes New Refugee Neighbors to Southeast MI

In 2023, Masco partnered with the nonprofit Samaritas and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Plymouth, Michigan, to turn a vacant colonial house on the St. John’s property into a home for resettling refugee families coming to the Great Lakes State. With capacity to fit up to eight people, the home will serve one family at a time; when the residing family is on their feet and ready to move into their own place, another refugee family in need will take over occupancy of the Plymouth house.
