Masco Sponsors New Permanent Supportive Housing Facility in Detroit

In April 2023, Masco’s Director of Corporate Giving attended the groundbreaking of a 65,500-square-foot residential substance-use treatment facility in downtown Detroit. Called The Anchor at Mariners Inn, the new construction will allow nonprofit Mariners Inn to double the number of individuals they can serve annually through their shelter and wraparound services.

Through a mix of public and private support, including funding from Masco, The Anchor is expected to open in late 2024 with 40 fully furnished recovery apartments and 44 units of furnished permanent housing. The expansion will also allow Mariners Inn to serve women for the first time.

“The Anchor will work to address a critical need for permanent supportive housing in Detroit,” says Masco Director of Communications & Corporate Giving, Sue Sabo. “As a company that was founded in Detroit over 90 years ago, we’re proud to support Mariners Inn in this historic effort to reduce chronic homelessness in the city.”
