Behr Paint Donates Supplies for Mural at Orange County Shelter

Last month, in honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, Behr Paint Company was pleased to provide free paint for the arts nonprofit Colorstry to design and create a women’s empowerment mural at WISEPlace, a women’s shelter in Santa Ana.

For more than 90 years, WISEPlace has served over 8,400 women by providing safe shelter, counseling and mental health services, case management and addiction recovery, and employment assistance to help rebuild their lives. As the only Orange County-based establishment leading the effort to end homelessness for unaccompanied women, WISEPlace instills hope in women and provides a path to personal stability so they do not face adversity alone. The nonprofit reached out to Behr Paint earlier this year to help them “Make Life More ColorfulTM” in their shelter through a large mural.

The nonprofit that produced the mural, Colorstry, was founded by two high school students in the fall of 2020, with a mission to use the arts to serve the Orange County community by providing resources to create, hosting events that empower individual creativity, and creating installations that inspire. Their mural at WISEPlace emphasizes the homeless shelter’s work to support and inspire those they serve, as well as the connections forged among this community of women.

We’re glad our Behr Paint products could help bring the vision of these two wonderful nonprofits to life! You can see a timelapse of the mural coming together here.
